They suggest that we all have secrets that we're afraid to share, but that sometimes it's necessary to do so in order to truly live and relate to others.(CBS) - Stop what you're doing right now and prepare to take in some classical music, culture and cool. Overall, the lyrics of "Secrets" are about honesty and openness, about wanting to connect with others and be understood. The final verse circles back to the original sentiment, with the narrator laying everything out on the table and asking the listener to tell them what they want to hear. However, they quickly bring it back to their own experience, acknowledging that they write their problems into songs and hope that they become successful. The second verse takes a bit of a surreal turn, with the narrator reflecting on the state of the world and the kinds of people who seem to be in charge. The repeated refrain "I'm gonna give all my secrets away" suggests that the narrator is determined to be truthful and honest with both themselves and others. They acknowledge that their life can be pretty boring sometimes and that they are tired of being insincere. The narrator expresses a need to share something with someone, to get it off their chest.
